Mike Hungerford brings more than three decades of experience in education and athletics to the LCC lacrosse program. From 1994 to 2024, he served as a Social Studies teacher, Dean of Students, and District Director of Attendance at Farmingdale High School in New York, dedicating his professional career to supporting student growth both inside and outside the classroom. In 2024, he was named National Director of Player Development for Mad Dog Lacrosse, where he continues to mentor and develop athletes at the national level.
Coach Hungerford’s coaching résumé reflects sustained excellence and championship success. Most recently, he served as Head Lacrosse Coach at Carlsbad High School (2024–2025). Prior to that, he led Farmingdale High School from 2017–2023, guiding the program to the 2023 New York State Finals and a Long Island Championship, while earning Nassau County Coach of the Year and Newsday Long Island Coach of the Year honors. His previous roles include Assistant Coach at Cold Spring Harbor High School (NYS Champions in 2015 and 2016) and long tenures at Farmingdale High School and Plainview High School, where his teams earned multiple New York State Final appearances and County Championships. In addition to lacrosse, he dedicated 25 years to coaching high school football at Farmingdale, further demonstrating his commitment to building well-rounded student-athletes.
A former collegiate player at Ithaca College (1986–1990), Coach Hungerford understands the game from every perspective — player, assistant coach, head coach, and program leader. He and his wife, Ruth, are the proud parents of two daughters, Samantha and Grace. His leadership, experience, and passion for player development make him a tremendous asset to the LCC lacrosse community.
